Crass Nomad: The Life and Times of Mark 'Marko' Perry
By Mick Wall
Mark 'Marko' Perry is one of the most enigmatic and influential figures in the history of punk rock. As the frontman of the legendary anarcho-punk band Crass, he helped to define the sound and ethos of the genre. But Perry's life has been as turbulent as his music, and he has often been at odds with the mainstream. In Crass Nomad, Mick Wall tells the incredible true story of Perry's life and times.
Perry was born in London in 1954. His father was a working-class socialist, and his mother was a devout Catholic. Perry's upbringing was strict and religious, but he rebelled against his parents' authority at a young age. He dropped out of school and ran away from home, eventually finding his way to the squat scene in London.

In the early 1970s, Perry became involved in the punk rock movement. He was drawn to the DIY ethic and the anti-establishment message of punk, and he soon formed his own band, Crass. Crass was one of the most radical and uncompromising bands of the punk era. Their music was harsh and abrasive, and their lyrics were full of political and social commentary.
Crass quickly gained a cult following, but they were also met with hostility from the mainstream media and the establishment. The band was banned from playing gigs and their records were often confiscated by the police. But Perry refused to be silenced. He continued to write and record music, and he became an outspoken critic of the government and the corporate world.
In the early 1980s, Crass disbanded. Perry went on to form a new band, The Poetic Justice League, but he never achieved the same level of success as he had with Crass. In the years since then, Perry has continued to write and record music, and he has also been involved in a variety of political and social causes.
Crass Nomad is the first full-length biography of Mark 'Marko' Perry. It is awarts-all account of his life and work, from his early days in the squat scene to his present-day status as a punk icon. Wall has interviewed Perry extensively, and he has also spoken to many of Perry's friends, family, and colleagues. The result is a fascinating and revealing portrait of a complex and contradictory figure.
Crass Nomad is a must-read for fans of punk rock and for anyone interested in the life and times of Mark 'Marko' Perry.
