About the Author

Barbara Simmons is a poet, essayist, and teacher. She is the author of several books of poetry, including Offertories, Exclamations, and Disequilibriums, The Geography of Home, and The Blessing of the Animals. Her work has been published in numerous literary magazines and anthologies, and she has received several awards for her writing, including the Poetry Society of America's Norma Farber First Book Award. Simmons lives in New York City.
