About the Author

James A. Michener is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author who has written more than forty books. He is best known for his historical fiction novels, which often explore the themes of war, peace, and social justice.

Michener served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he worked as a journalist and a teacher. He began writing novels in the 1950s, and his first novel, Tales of the South Pacific, won the Pulitzer Prize in 1954.

Michener's other novels include The Bridges at Toko-Ri, Hawaii, Centennial, and Chesapeake.
