Harper knocked on Jake's door, her heart pounding in her chest. She had been avoiding him for weeks, but she couldn't do it anymore. She needed to know the truth.

The door opened, and Jake stood there, looking as grumpy as ever. "What do you want?" he asked.

"I need to talk to you," Harper said. "About that night."

Jake's eyes narrowed. "What about it?"

"I know you didn't mean to kiss me," Harper said. "But you did."

Jake didn't say anything. He just stared at her.

"I don't know what happened," Harper said. "But it did. And I need to know why."

Jake sighed. "I don't know why, Harper. I just... lost control."

"But why?" Harper asked. "Why me?"
