Kerry A. McGover is a Professor of Education at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research focuses on the school-to-prison pipeline, school discipline, and educational equity. She is the author of the book Youth Incarceration: The Ultimate Failure of Public Education.

Dennis Shirley is a Professor of Education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His research focuses on the history of school discipline, the role of race and class in school discipline, and the impact of school discipline on students. He is the author of the book School Discipline in the United States: A History of Punishment.
